Formed in 2002 in an empty dorm room they converted into a rehearsal space, The Oracle is a heavy Christian rock band with a strong focus on melody. Much has changed since those seminal days, leaving James Tanner (vocals) the remaining member of the original line-up. In late 2003 guitarist Michael Westbrook brought his guitar talents to the band and along with drummer Ian Cole. It was over a year later that rhythm guitarist Paul Wheeler – formerly of the Kingdom Records' bands Jailbird Paul and Shudder – joined the mix. It was in that incarnation that The Oracle went into the studio to record what would become their third CD, The Roar of Beckoning.

During the post-production of the album, long-time friend and visual artist Jason Crowgey was brought onto the project to create album art for the new record. Before long, Jason joined the band to play bass, freeing James up from his own bass duties to focus on his vocal performance and on his lyric writing. While it might seem that all of the roster changes would make it difficult for the band to coalesce as a group, in reality is has lent an ever-deepening palette of sonic textures, styles, and sounds as each member brings something fresh to the musical table.
